Well to start off there have been many stories how a person's personality affects his surroundings and has a lasting influence on others. We have experienced it ourselves. But there is one such incident from the epic Ramayana which can be analogous to the statement above. Before reading this I request the rational readers to look at the psychological implications rather than questioning the incidents.
Well the story starts like this.We all know Lord Rama practiced monogamy when polygamy was famous and the idea of having relation with more than a women was common. Also Lord Rama's father Dasaratha followed polygamy. It is known that Lord Rama did not stray his thoughts on any other women other than Lord Sita.
We also know that Ravana had liked Sita and wished to make her his own.But he could not do it because he had a curse that if he was to touch any women he must have her consent ,else he will burn into ashes.Ravana had a power to turn himself into any form .He tried many forms to get near Lord Sita but ended up in vain.By this time you would have thought why not change into Lord Ram's appearance and approach Lord Sita.Spot on..!..The same advice was given to Ravana by his minister on seeing his unsuccessful attempts.
On hearing this Ravana said "You being a minister can think this much, I am the king ,the ruler don't you think I would have thought of the same.? I tried to take Ram's form many times but I had no interest to approach Sita because whenever I assume his form I lose interest in thinking about other women. In his form my mind does not entertain the thought of other women".
This story was read in a magazine(Infinithoughts) and this is my interpretation of the incident. Now I leave it to the wonderful thought process of yours to interpret this incident and come to conclusions which may vary from my interpretation. ..:)
